Sitti Raehanah Muhamad Shaleh, an esteemed researcher and lecturer, has left an indelible mark on the field of aquaculture through her unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge, teaching, and research. With a profound passion for aquatic life and a thirst for exploration, she has tirelessly dedicated herself to unravelling the mysteries of aquatic ecosystems and contributing significantly to the growth of the aquaculture industry. Born with an innate curiosity, her journey in academia began with her pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science, which she accomplished in 1994 from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM). Recognizing her potential as a budding scientist, she delved further into academia, embarking on a remarkable journey to attain a Ph.D. in Aquatic Ecosystem Management in 2004 from the same university.  Sitti Raehanah's research journey took her across continents, as she ventured to the United States to conduct groundbreaking research on microalgae and seaweed culture at the prestigious Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, San Diego.  Upon her return to Malaysia, Sitti Raehanah's dedication and competence were recognized when she was appointed as the Dean of the School of Sustainable Agriculture at UMS Sandakan. Her two-year tenure saw her imparting her wisdom and fostering growth in both students and the institution. Her leadership and passion further solidified her reputation as an academic luminary. Sitti Raehanah's journey continued to flourish as she assumed the role of Visiting Professor at Kindai University in Japan. Her international collaborations enhanced her global perspective on aquaculture research, enriching her knowledge and enabling her to contribute to the field from multiple angles. In 2019, Sitti Raehanah reached another pinnacle in her illustrious career when she was entrusted with the position of the fourth director of the Borneo Marine Research Institute (BMRI) at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Under her guidance, the institute has thrived as a hub of innovation, research, and education in the realm of marine sciences, fisheries and aquaculture. At the heart of Sitti Raehanah's journey lies her unyielding commitment to research and education. Her in-depth exploration of microalgae has paved the way for groundbreaking advancements in this crucial area of aquaculture. Additionally, her investigations into Harmful Algal Blooms have provided vital insights into their effects on the aquaculture industry, contributing to its sustainable development. Beyond her research, Sitti Raehanah's impact is felt in the lecture halls and classrooms. Her dedication to teaching has led her to educate countless undergraduate students in subjects like seaweed farming, fish processing and post-harvest handling, live feed culture, and hatchery seed production. Her engaging and informative teaching style has also inspired many to pursue careers in aquaculture.  Sitti Raehanah Muhamad Shaleh's journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Her contributions to aquaculture research, education, and leadership have left an indelible mark on the field, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations of marine scientists and enthusiasts to come.
