Pneumocystis Jirovecii pneumonia Infection in Immune Compromised Patients, Revisited Wael Lateef JeburAhmed Halawa<p>A fungal infection, Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) primarily affects immunocompromised individuals, particularly post-transplant patients, leading to high morbidity and mortality rates. This review covers the pathology, risk factors, clinical presentation, diagnostic methods, prophylaxis, and treatment of PJP, with a focus on its implications in kidney transplantation. Local transplantation practices report a low incidence of PJP due to effective prophylaxis and donor-matching strategies.
