The Interaction of CX3CL1 and CX3CR1 in Infection, Inflammation, and Cancer: Implications for Therapeutic Intervention
</dc:title><dc:creator>Jeyatheepan Jeyaretnam</dc:creator><dc:description>&lt;p&gt;The CX3CL1/CX3CR1 axis, comprising the chemokine CX3CL1 (Fractalkine) and its receptor CX3CR1, plays a pivotal role in modulating immune responses during infection, inflammation, and cancer. This review discusses the molecular mechanisms underlying CX3CL1/CX3CR1 interaction and its role in immune cell recruitment, tissue remodeling, and tumor progression. In the context of infection and inflammation, this pathway contributes to both protective and pathological immune responses. Moreover, CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling has been implicated in the metastatic spread of cancers. The therapeutic potential of targeting this interaction in these diseases is discussed, along with the current challenges and potential future directions.&lt;/p&gt;</dc:description>
